Bad news never comes alone! After a record drop in transaction volume in June, OpenSea, NFT leader, has revealed that they have suffered a user email leak.
It seems that one of their employees, from Customer.io, "abused his access to download and share email addresses." Over 1.8 million users have made at least one purchase through the Ethereum network on OpenSea. Phishing attempts should be expected for OpenSea users.
With exponential growth and ever increasing transational flows, crypto startups are becoming targets for cyber attacks. Theoretically, the decentralized nature of blockchain should allow for better security. But "less expert" users are now increasingly turning to platforms like OpenSea which remain more exposed due to their much more centralized aspect.
